UNIVERSAL CRAFTSMEN COUNCIL OF ENGINEERS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD FUND

To: Worthy Chiefs of All Councils:

This provides information to assist you in providing scholarship opportunities to sons and daughters of members of our fraternity.  The only way these opportunities can be extended is if your council shares the opportunity with Council members and they with their families.  Feel free to make copies of the scholarship application forms and distribute them accordingly.  Be sure the applicants are aware of the deadline date for returning their application to you by April 1 and you forward your council’s recommended applications to the Chairman of the Scholarship Program by April 30.  In order to be fair and fully understood by all our brothers, there is no extension of deadlines.  Awards will be announced by mid June and all applicants notified accordingly.  Stress with applicants that illegible applications will be returned without consideration.

1.        Scholarship Application                                                     3.   School Recommendation

2.         Parent letter                                                                          4.   Worthy Chief’s Endorsement

The following procedure is necessary when you receive a request for an application:

1.     You are to give the applicant the application blank, the parents' letter and the school principal's letter with instructions to have these three filled out and returned to you, the Worthy Chief.  Also request the student provide a current FAFSA form and have his/her school or college forward a current transcript to you.

2.   After April 1 and your committee’s review of applications you should forward the complete set of  applications you recommend along with the Worthy Chief’s endorsement for each application to the UNIVERSAL CRAFTSMEN COUNCIL of  ENGINEERS Scholarship Chairman on or before April 30. This will give the UNIVERSAL CRAFTSMEN COUNCIL of  ENGINEERS  scholarship committee ample time to select and notify successful candidate (s) that they are being recommended to the Grand Council for an award.  Actual scholarship awards must be approved by the Grand Council authorizing the scholarship payment.  Recipients will be notified by mid-August.   It is the intention of the scholarship committee to notify all applicants whether they are successful or not.
