    Welcome

Grand Worthy Chief's  Message  for  2009-2010

In order to be more successful in our Councils, we must change the way we have been doing business.   Don’t be afraid to try new ways in getting membership and keeping the older ones.

Therefore, I am coining the phrase "Try something new -  CAT".

CAT  =  (Communication, Attendance and Training)

Improve Communication - Between the Grand Council and the Grand Council Officers, District Deputy Grand Worthy Chiefs, Councils, and members…  which has been less than desirable for some time now.  It MUST improve! Here are some ways that can be done.

  • Create a Directory of the Grand Officers and Committees. so that the Grand Council Officers and membership can communicate with each other.
  • Each District Deputy Grand Worthy Chief can plan and pre-announce their Official Visits and fill out a new form on or before their Official Visitations, which will be sent back to the Area District Deputy Grand Worthy Chief before Grand Sessions.
  • Councils - Visits by Grand Line Officers and District Inspectors, be received/ Listen to the Councils
  • Grand Council provides a web site for downloading forms and information.  http://www.lasswell.org/ucce/indexna.htm
  • Internet distribution - We have set up a Yahoo group, for email that may be used by all of our members. Add your name to the group by joining the group.  The address to send email for posting a message is: UCCE@yahoogroups.com
  • The Grand Council is updating the Membership data with member’s birth date, email, phone numbers, wife name and other important information. We will need the help from each Council to archive this information.

Improve Attendance - Attendance at Stated Meetings and functions has been slipping for years.

  • Stated Meetings - Directory mining (invite members) / Find a job for new and old members.
  • Council Functions - Select activities that generate interest and advertise.
  • Grand Sessions - Look at the 2-day format and do what makes the most sense.
  • Membership – The Grand Council will be suggesting new and old ways to attract membership.

Improve Training - Training and Education have only been talked about for too long.

  • The Area District Deputy Grand Worthy Chief, Ken Lasswell, PGWC will oversee the District Deputy Grand Worthy Chief in their duties.
  • Ritual Proficiency - The Council will retire the old ritual books and use only the new Ritual Book Version 7.4 Revised Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009.  I am requesting that your District Deputy Grand Worthy Chief conduct one school of instruction on the Opening, Closing and Receiving of Grand Officers in form from the new Ritual Book.  New Ritual books may be attained from the Grand Secretary office.
  • Recorders – New data record keeping system is in the planning.
  • Training at Grand Session on how to use Grand Council programs.  Bring your computer to Grand Sessions and we will help you set it up.
